CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The National Weather Service in Cleveland is warning people not to swim in Lake Erie from Sunday morning through Monday evening.
The weather service says hazardous swimming conditions are expected along Lake Erie all day Sunday and through Monday evening, with waves reaching 3 to 6 feet.
Waves could occasionally crest at 7 feet.
They expect all lakeshore counties – including Erie, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Lake, and Ashtabula – to be at high risk for these swimming conditions.
The weather service is discouraging swimmers from heading to the lake as rip currents will be possible.
They also advise swimmers to “stay dry when waves are high and avoid piers, breakwalls, and river outlets.”
In addition, waterspouts will be possible over the lake today and Monday.
