L. MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. – A man is being accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman at a hotel in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County.
Javier Santos-Rivera, 41, was charged with Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Aggravated Assault – Attempts to Cause Serious Bodily Injury or Causes Injury with Extreme Indifference and Sexual Assault, all felonies; and misdemeanor charges of Simple Assault, Indecent Assault without Consent of Other and Intimidate Witness or Victim – Refrain from Report, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
On March 21 around 7:17 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police were called to an area hospital for a female reporting a sexual assault, the DA’s office said.
Investigators determined the assault happened at a hotel located along Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township, the jurisdiction of Pennsylvania State Police in Fogelsville, according to the DA’s office.
Authorities said the name of the 19-year-old victim will not be released.
The DA’s office said the victim was dropped off at the hospital’s emergency room entrance by a private vehicle registered to Santos-Rivera.
The woman told investigators she had a relationship with Santos-Rivera, and that on the day of the sexual assault they went out to dinner before returning to the hotel room that Santos-Rivera had rented, according to the news release.
The victim told police that while they engaged in consensual sexual conduct, Santos-Rivera then began to sexually assault her, the DA’s office said.
The victim told police she told Santos-Rivera to stop, but he continued for several minutes and restrained her with his wrists and waist, according to the DA’s office.
She said after the assault, Santos-Rivera dropped her off at the hospital, the DA’s office said.
The DA’s office said the woman had to undergo surgery due to the severity of her injuries sustained from the assault.
