SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis hosted a Press Conference on Monday morning inside the Carpenters Local Union building in Scranton to highlight why he and Governor Josh Shapiro should be reelected this November over Republican challenger Stacy Garrity

“I think Pennsylvanians need leaders who they can trust and leaders who are honest with them, and it’s clear that we can’t trust Stacy Garrity,” Davis said.

The press conference is part of a statewide tour to criticize Garrity’s agenda and stance on issues like the minimum wage, abortion and data centers.

This also comes just weeks after Garrity visited President Trump in the Oval Office with a video endorsement posted by the President on Truth Social.

Davis and local legislators from the State House and Senate like Senator Marty Flynn criticized Garrity’s links to President Trump, emphasizing that Garrity’s vision for Pennsylvania is one that’s about serving Trump instead of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“Stacy Garrity wants Donald Trump in her corner, Josh Shapiro wants Pennsylvania in his corner, and I’ll take the people of Pennsylvania every damn time,” Sen. Flynn said.

While the latest Quinnipiac University poll does have Shapiro and Davis maintaining a double-digit lead over Garrity, the Lieutenant Governor says he and Governor Shapiro aren’t letting their foot off the gas.

“I think the contrast in this election couldn’t be clearer, and the Governor and I aren’t taking anything for granted, and we’re showing up in communities all across Pennsylvania talking about things we’ve been able to accomplish,” Davis said.

Davis also highlighted the importance of the State Senate elections as Democrats look to flip the one legislative body in Harrisburg where they don’t have the majority.

“I’ve been crisscrossing Pennsylvania campaigning with candidates for the State Senate, and I think this is the best opportunity we’ve had in a generation to flip the State Senate,” Davis said.

Davis said that he and fellow Democrats are going to do everything they can to ensure a Democratic trifecta in Harrisburg after Election Day on November 3rd.
