World War II veteran Frank Pillitteri, a lifelong Erie resident, recently celebrated a remarkable milestone surrounded by the family and friends who have been part of his century-long journey.
Loved ones traveled from across the country to honor Pillitteri’s 100th birthday, celebrating not only his life but also the lasting legacy he has built through his service, dedication, and commitment to family and community.
Born and raised in Erie’s historic Little Italy neighborhood, Pillitteri answered his country’s call during World War II. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1944 through August 1946, including time stationed in Germany during the aftermath of the war.
Over the years, Pillitteri built a life rooted in family. He is the father of five children, grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of one. Family members say his example of hard work, perseverance, and generosity has inspired generations and helped shape the values they carry forward today.
