A Rochester man faces charges for a fatal stabbing in the Buffalo area, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Police responded to the area of Draden Lane and Denrose Drive in Amherst around 11:40 a.m. April 22 for a report of a stabbing. District Attorney Michael Keane said Tyshon White, 29, had attempted to strike Caden Nelipowitz, 21, with a vehicle and stabbed him in the back and upper arm.

Keane said Nelipowitz was taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital in North Tonawanda, where he died from a sharp force injury to his lower back.

White was arraigned Friday on an indictment charging him with manslaughter and attempted assault, Keane said. White was held without bail. His next court date had not been scheduled.
