Munhall man arrested following alleged assaults, robbery attempts in Pittsburgh

A 19-year-old is facing charges after officials said he assaulted two women and a man and attempted to rob them in Downtown Pittsburgh on Friday.

Just before 8:30 a.m., Downtown Public Safety Center officers were flagged down following a reported robbery and assault of two women outside a business on Penn Avenue and Sixth Street.
Police said a man had taken cash from one of the women, and when confronted by both, he then punched them in the face. One of the women was then pulled to the ground.
The man, later identified as 19-year-old Giovanni Moore, then dragged the woman along the street before running away and getting onto a bus.
A short time later, officers were called to the area of Katz Plaza for an assault on a man.
The suspect hit the man in the face and ran from the scene. Police said Moore also tried to steal an unidentified woman’s bag as he ran.
Police located Moore around 9th Street and Penn and took him into custody after he was positively identified by the victims, all of whom denied medical attention.
Moore, of Munhall, was arrested and charged with robbery, three counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and prohibited acts.
He is also charged with multiple counts of theft by unlawful taking for stealing tip jars from a number of downtown businesses over recent weeks.
