CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Six Flags Entertainment is relocating its corporate headquarters from North Carolina to Texas.
Six Flags owns dozens of amusement parks in the U.S., including Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.
Six Flags will make the move in early 2027, shifting the base of its operations from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Arlington, Texas.
The company already has a corporate office in Arlington, at Choctaw Stadium. The very first Six Flags park- Six Flags Over Texas- opened in Arlington in 1961.
“The decision to return the Company’s headquarters to Arlington is a continuation of our efforts to evolve the organization and enhance operational efficiency,” said Six Flags President and CEO John Reilly, in a news release.
“After an extensive review, we determined that concentrating our personnel, processes, and decision-making in our Arlington office, where a portion of Six Flags corporate employees are located, is the best path forward for the Company.”
Six Flags currently operates five amusement parks in Texas. Its network is made up of 34 parks and nine resorts across North America.
The company said it will continue to be a “major employer and contributor” to the regional economy of the Charlotte metro area. It also will continue to have an office in Sandusky, Ohio, the former home of Cedar Fair, which was acquired by Six Flags in an $8 billion deal in 2024. Dorney Park was one of the 15 Cedar Fair properties that was part of the deal.
Shares of Six Flags (NYSE: FUN) were down slightly in early Tuesday trading to $16.77. That gives the company a market capitalization of $1.73 billion.
