On Tuesday night, Erie County Council will continue to discuss the future of data centers within the county.
Council will be holding a second reading and possible vote on an amendment to Erie County’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance.
It comes after council held a special public hearing last week to get input from the public on the possible changes.
The proposed changes would strengthen regulation around where data centers can be developed, only applying to municipalities that don’t already have their own ordinances in place.
We spoke with one member of council about what to expect from Tuesday’s meeting.
“We’re going to engage more discussion on the amended proposal and attempt to incorporate some of the concerns that were raised last week during the public comment and through additional discussion we had at our committee meetings,” said Jim Wertz of Erie City Council.
According to council, there are currently no data center proposals anywhere in Erie County.
