John Fetterman is now getting better marks from Pennsylvania Republicans than from Democrats, a new poll finds. The New York Times/Philadelphia Inquirer/Siena survey shows 73% of Republicans view the Democratic senator favorably, compared with just 22% of Democrats. That’s a sharp flip from 2024, when three-quarters of Democrats liked him and nearly two-thirds of Republicans did not. Also of note: Republicans in the state now view him more favorably than GOP Sen. David McCormick, who has a 63% approval rating.
Fetterman’s sharp criticism of Democrats and strong backing of Israel—plus perceived openness to President Trump—are driving the shift, with nearly 60% of Democrats saying he’s been too supportive of Trump and nearly half saying he’s too pro-Israel. Independents remain slightly positive on Fetterman, whose every move is being watched as a potential future Senate swing vote. Fetterman would be up for reelection in 2028.
