(WJET/WFXP)– A second of four people charged in the fatal beating of an Erie man in 2024 pleaded guilty and was sentenced on Wednesday.
The Erie County District Attorney’s Office said 63-year-old Jack Defilippo pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault and reckless endangerment for his role in the murder of 31-year-old Ledomperignon Eady.
With that guilty plea, Defilippo was sentenced to 11 and a half to 22 months in prison due to his cooperation in the case that led to 39-year-old Jeffery Edmund being convicted of third-degree murder in June.
Eady was found severely beaten the night of October 30, 2024, in the 1000 block of East 26th Street and was pronounced dead later that evening. The Erie County Coroner’s Office later determined he died from blunt-force trauma to the head and neck.
The two remaining defendants in the case, 44-year-old Devon Barnett and 38-year-old Leah Hardin, still have their cases pending. Barnett is still facing homicide and assault charges, while homicide and conspiracy charges were dropped against Hardin in March 2025.
No date has been set for Barnett’s trial, while Hardin is scheduled to head to trial on September 8, according to online court documents.
