READING, Pa. – A fundraiser this weekend in Berks County is bringing plenty of support for its community this weekend, as proceeds will benefit an organization making a difference for families going through tough times.

Doors open for the 2026 Summer Parrot Daze event at noon Saturday at the Beverly Hills Beach Bar at 710 Old Fritztown Road in Sinking Spring. All proceeds benefit Hannah’s Hope Ministries.

Seats are $50, and include a lunch and dinner buffet, a full day of entertainment, and access to raffle and auction items, according to the Hannah’s Hope Ministries website.

The Caribbean Sunset Band with Mark James is performing from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jimmy & the Parrots, which has made appearances on WFMZ-TV’s Music Mondays, takes the stage from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The organization said it provides safe housing, support, and a fresh start for young mothers and their children.

Mary Marks, Director of Operations at Hannah’s Hope Ministries, said the women live at the home as part of an 18-month program. 

Marks said the organization offers life skills classes to help them get from homelessness to independence. Women work on getting GED’s and driver’s licenses and overcoming any barriers that would keep them from getting a life-sustaining job.

She said women work with career mentors and take financial literacy and parenting and relationship classes.

Hannah’s Hope Ministries also has a spiritual enrichment program, she said.

The home also offers kids therapies as well as opportunities for playtime.

The overall goal is for the women to “break the cycle of homelessness, once and for all,” and to be truly independent, she said.

Four women from the program have purchased their own homes, Marks said.

Denny Lorah, Founder and President of the Berks County Parrot Head Club, said “it’s wonderful” to be able to help a nonprofit like Hannah’s Hope Ministries. he said the club’s mission has always been to “party with a purpose,” and the purpose is to give back to the community.

He said the club makes sure that the money it raises stays in Berks. The club has supported dozens of charities since 2002. It’s close to having raised $1 million since the club began.
