EASTON, Pa. – On Thursday, State Senator Lisa Boscola announced the approval of $200,000 in state funding to help Easton develop a plan to strengthen the city’s financial capacity, the senator says.

The funding was made possible through the Strategic Management Planning Program (STMP), a news release states.

The release says the STMP provides matching grant funds of up to $200,000 to help local governments experiencing financial issues develop comprehensive multi-year financial plans and establish short- and long-term financial objectives.

The money is to be used to upgrade the city’s software and technology to manage financial data, facilitate financial reporting, and improve operations, STMP shares.

“Keeping our local governments in strong financial health ensures they can continue to support the people who live and work in our communities while positioning them to compete for important investments,” Boscola said.

“These investments help local governments responsibly manage their finances, maintain essential services, keep the lights on, and continue growing while maintaining a strong financial footing,” she added.
