TUNKHANNOCK, WYOMING CO. — A Florida-based chicken restaurant chain is coming to Pennsylvania for the first time, with all three of its initial locations planned for Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Huey Magoo’s announced Thursday that local business partners Mark DeStefano and Mike Diskin have committed to opening restaurants in Tunkhannock and the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre areas.
The first is expected to open in Tunkhannock during the first half of 2027.
The company said the 2,600-square-foot restaurant will be part of a three-unit property being developed by the local owners.
Locations in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties are expected to follow, although specific sites and opening dates have not yet been announced.
Huey Magoo’s specializes in chicken tenders, which can be ordered hand-breaded or grilled. Its menu also includes chicken sandwiches, wraps and salads, along with sides, teas and lemonades.
The chain is approaching 100 locations nationwide as it continues expanding into new markets.
DeStefano, a Northeastern Pennsylvania finance and operations executive, and Diskin, who has a background in hospitality and customer service, said they had been considering several chicken restaurant concepts before choosing Huey Magoo’s.
DeStefano said the partners intend for the restaurants to be locally owned and operated and involved with area schools, teams and community events.
The Tunkhannock restaurant will mark Huey Magoo’s first location anywhere in Pennsylvania.
