Marmoush is the latest piece of the puzzle for Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi, who took over in March and masterminded Premier League survival and has subsequently been given more than £300million to rebuild his squad this summer.

After Savio joined on Tuesday in an overall £85m package, Tottenham completed their double swoop on City on Thursday after Marmoush officially signed in a deal which will become permanent for a fee of £60m next summer, the Press Association understands.

Marmoush said: “It feels amazing to be here. I’m so excited to get started with the team and I can’t wait to meet the fans.

“Tottenham Hotspur is one of the biggest clubs in England, if not the world, and the project was very attractive to me.

“I’ve spoken with the head coach, I loved what he had to say and I’m sure our passion for the game will go very well together.”

Marmoush is another long-standing target for Spurs after they followed the Egyptian international during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure, but he elected to sign for City in 2025 after a prolific spell at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Loan spells with Stuttgart and St Pauli were followed by a breakout campaign at Wolfsburg alongside new Tottenham team-mate Micky van de Ven before he signed for Frankfurt.

The versatile forward produced an impressive 37 goals and 20 assists during a productive 18-month spell at Frankfurt, which led to a move to City in a £59m deal.

Even though Marmoush scored a hat-trick against Newcastle on his fifth appearance for Man City, he struggled for regular minutes as Erling Haaland’s deputy and has been allowed to leave after he scored 16 times across 62 appearances.

De Zerbi said: “Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference.

“He has incredible attacking quality but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.

“He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level.”

It is understood City have already fulfilled their payment obligations to Frankfurt and no sell-on clause was included in the agreement when City signed the 27-year-old.

North London will now be home for Marmoush, which will delight his fellow Egyptian and ex-Spurs forward Mido, who recommended his old club sign countryman Marmoush two years ago on X.

Years ago I advised #Spurs to sign #salah when he was still at #Basil they never listened to me..now I’m telling you plz go for Marmoush he will be great signing will fit in perfectly in Angie’s system as a left or right winger..hard worker top professional and can score…

The arrival of Marmoush on an initial loan before he joins permanently for a £50m fee with £10m part of the package as add-ons will improve Tottenham’s attacking options.

Spurs have a plethora of key forwards either not fully fit like James Maddison or Mohammed Kudus or sidelined due to long-term injury problems.

After Savio marked his debut on Tuesday against Charlton with a goal in a dazzling 19-minute cameo, Marmoush will hope to get the chance to make his first Spurs appearance in Saturday’s visit of Newcastle.
