Lackawanna County’s Bells Across PA piece painted by local artist Austin Burke was unveiled on Wednesday in front of the Lackawanna County Courthouse in Scranton. The bell features iconic trademarks of the area’s railroad, mining and iron furnaces. Burke’s design focuses on several area trademarks: Steamtown, PNC Field, Montage Ski Resort, the iron furnaces, railroad, the friendly downtown Scranton skyline and a coal mine breaker. The bell is mounted on a stand with a plate highlighting information about the project. It will permanently sit in front of the courthouse. Bells Across PA was part of the America250PA program.
