GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Bill Hopper, who retired as executive director of the Pitt-Greenville Airport, is now sporting the same title at an airport in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Hopper was named executive director of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, at the board meeting yesterday.
This comes after Hopper retired from his position in Greenville in June after more than seven years in the role. Brandon Craft has since assumed the director position.
“This move is bittersweet,” Hopper told WITN. “I have very much enjoyed working with the staff, board, and stakeholders at PGV and being a part of the Pitt County and Greenville community. I am equally excited about becoming a member of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton communities and working with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Airport board and staff.”
During his time in the Marine Corps, Hopper says he spent a lot of time in New Hampshire, and this new job allows him to be closer to his family.
The decision to take a new job also came after a consulting and executive search firm saw that he was retiring and believed he was fit for the open role.
Once they reached out, Hopper says he applied and found it to be a good organization.
“They impressed me greatly in the hiring process and made my choice to accept the offer easy,” Hopper said.
He officially starts the new job on November 1.
