BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A popular bakery, offering specialty cakes, cupcakes, cookies and more, is making moves in Northampton County.
Crumbs Cake Studio, specializing in thoughtfully crafted, custom designed cakes and desserts for every occasion, is expected to reopen in early fall at its new location at 817 Linden St. in Bethlehem, owner Felicia Rodriguez told 69 News.

The bakery’s forthcoming location was previously home to a Papa John’s pizza shop, which closed in 2020.
Crumbs Cake Studio, which opened in late 2021, held its last day of business at its original spot at 836 Linden St. – located across the roadway – on Friday, but individuals can still place custom orders during the transition by calling the business at 610-597-0200 or visiting thecrumbscakestudio.com.
Owner and head cake designer Felicia Rodriguez is moving the business primarily for more space.

“I’m really hoping to complete the move and have the counter back open sometime in October,” Rodriguez said.
“In the meantime, we’ll still be accepting custom orders and baking out of another commercial kitchen. I’m super excited because our new space will be bigger, allowing us to offer more of a variety and also do larger custom orders. It’s just an overall great space with central A/C, a walk-in cooler and a bit of off-street parking in the back, too.”
Rodriguez, a 2014 Freedom High School graduate, studied business at Northampton Community College.

She traces her love of baking back to her childhood, when she would bake alongside her mother and grandmother.
When she had her own daughter, she began making her birthday cakes and eventually took on the role of local “cake lady,” making baked goods for friends, neighbors and relatives.
“It just kind of snowballed from there, and now here I am with own shop, which I’m so thankful for,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez brings clients’ tasty visions to life by crafting edible works of art in the form of eye-catching tiered cakes, cakes with movie and TV character themes and more.
Some of her most popular selections are letter- and number-shaped cakes topped with fresh fruit, flowers, macarons and more.
She also offers walk-in/counter hours for individuals looking to purchase a sweet treat on-the-spot.
Counter selections rotate, but popular picks include cookies such as s’mores, brown butter and triple chocolate, along with a variety of cupcakes, macarons and brownies.

“We’ve mostly been open on the weekends, but we’ll have expanded hours at the new spot,” Rodriguez said.
“The cookies are definitely top sellers, and we also do cake slices, which we’re going to do a lot more of at the new location. We’re also looking to start cake classes for adults as well as some less advanced classes like cupcake decorating for children’s parties. I really want to bring more fun and unique activities.”
At its new spot, Crumbs Cake Studio will operate next to popular Mexican restaurant Aqui Es: A Taste of Mexico.

“The new location is right across the street, and so it will hopefully be an easy move,” Rodriguez said.
“When people in the neighborhood heard that we were moving, they came in worried, but they were relieved when I told them it’s literally across the street.”

Lehigh County news’Extraordinary’: Beloved antique center grows with 180-plus vendors at new Lehigh Valley spot
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A decades-old business, known for its expansive assortment of antique furniture, clocks, toys and more, is getting a fresh start with a new name, location and ownership team in Lehigh County.
Weil Antique Center, featuring a diverse mix of vendors selling high-quality antiques, collectibles and retro and vintage items, has transitioned to a new, larger location at 1471 Lehigh St. in Allentown.
The center ceased operations at its home of more than 20 years at 2200 31st St. SW in Salisbury Township in June 2025.
Original owners Rick and Cindy Weil sold the business to Mark Higgins and Michele Vrentas, who officially reopened the business on Thursday, Aug. 27, under the name “Weil’s Doghouse Antiques” at the rear of the Parkway Shopping Center on Lehigh Street.

‘Fun and unique’: Lehigh Valley’s new rooftop bar and lounge serving up top-notch drinks, views
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A new spot for signature cocktails, stellar skyline views and socializing with friends is now open in Lehigh County.
Palo Santo Rooftop Bar + Lounge, a rooftop venue offering specialty drinks, live music and more, opened about a month ago at the Americus Hotel, at 555 Hamilton St. in downtown Allentown.
The new outdoor venue, open Tuesday through Sunday (weather permitting), occupies a rooftop terrace above the hotel’s ballroom and overlooking North Sixth Street and the ArtsWalk.
Palo Santo guests are able to soak in cityscape and sunset views while hanging out with friends and family in a relaxing, tropical atmosphere – complete with palm trees and thatch roof accents. Read more here.

As food vendor vacates Allentown taproom, hospitality veteran takes the helm
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Changes are on the horizon for a popular taproom in Lehigh County.
Tre’s Kitchen, offering brick-oven pizzas and other hand-crafted food selections, is set to cease operations on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the West End Taproom in Allentown’s West End.
Food service will continue at the 2215 W. Tilghman St. taproom under the leadership of Dan Gonzalez, a seasoned hospitality professional and West End Taproom’s new director of operations.

U. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – New tenants are set to breathe new life into vacancies at a prominent shopping center in Lehigh County.
A new pet supply store and a new restaurant are under development at Promenade Saucon Valley in Upper Saucon Township, according to Patrick Turner, general manager of Promenade Saucon Valley.
The new pet supply store, expected to open in the fall, will occupy Suite 420, between American Eagle Outfitters and Claire’s.

Community saves local business after viral TikTok video
WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A viral video shows the power of social media, and it is having a lasting impact on one business in Lehigh County.
3PC Chicken in Whitehall Township turned to social media to ask for help and suggestions. It says it was in danger of closing its doors.
“This is it, if we don’t make any money with this last box, we literally closing in the next week,” said Owner David Familia, one of the owners of 3PC Chicken. He recalled what it was like before the video went viral.

Pizza buzzPopular Lehigh Valley pizza business finds permanent home at once-iconic hot dog shop
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The husband-and-wife team behind a much-loved pizza business – known for popping up at local breweries, wineries and distilleries over the past six years – is continuing to grow operations with a new brick-and-mortar shop in Lehigh County.
Brian and Jess Macker, founders and owners of Local Stone, plan to open a brick-and-mortar location of their pizza business in the fall at 446 N. 15th St. in Allentown.
The new Local Stone pizza shop has a target opening date of early October, the Mackers told 69 News.
The shop will occupy an updated space at the southwest corner of 15th and Liberty streets that was previously home to Willy Joe’s, a hot dog shop that closed in 2025 after 80 years of business. Read more.

PARRYVILLE, Pa. – A popular restaurant, situated on a picturesque property along the Pohopoco Creek, is leveling up with a new dining option.
The Riverwalk Restaurant & Bar, a full-service restaurant featuring multiple indoor and outdoor bars and dining areas, is planning to introduce a new pizza bar experience this fall at 101 Centre St. in Parryville, Carbon County.

‘We’re back!’: After months-long updates, Lehigh Valley eatery to reopen with expanded menu
HELLERTOWN, Pa. – A renovation project has been completed at a popular Mexican restaurant in Northampton County, bringing updated kitchen equipment and a wider selection of menu items to the establishment.
The Hellertown location of Lu Taqueria, a fast-casual eatery serving “authentic Mexican food made with love,” will hold a soft reopening from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 56 W. Water St.
The restaurant has been temporarily closed since early June for kitchen renovations.
The Hellertown location has offered a limited Lu Taqueria menu since its opening in January 2025, but following its kitchen updates, it will now be able to offer the full Lu Taqueria menu that’s also available at the restaurant’s flagship location at 559 Main St. Suite 3 in downtown Bethlehem. MAXATAWNY TWP., Pa. – A longstanding destination for pizza, pasta and other Italian specialties has bid farewell in Berks County.
Valentino’s Restaurant, a full-service restaurant and bar offering authentic, freshly prepared Italian cuisine, has closed at 15492 Kutztown Road in Maxatawny Township.
The announcement was made on the business’ Facebook page.
“Farewell, the lights have gone down, and the doors have closed at Valentino’s Restaurant and Bar in Kutztown,” the online announcement reads.
“For nearly half a century, this space has been so much more than a restaurant. It has been a place of shared milestones, traditions, first dates, and late-night laughs. SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa.- The Just Between Friends (JBF) fall sale opened to the public Thursday and runs through Sunday at the Body Zone in Spring Township.
“We’ve been coming since she’s been born,” says Anne Moll, referencing her three-year-old granddaughter.
The family likes to hit up Just Between Friends for all kinds of items.
“Right now, we’re looking for Baby Shark, Cocomelon, Spiderman, and you know, the hot items for little kids,” Moll said.

While the attractions and crowds grow every August, organizers say the heart of the fair comes down to family.
“Our fair board is a lot of families,” Assistant Secretary Julie Weiss said. “When we come together for fair week, we’re one big family. So it’s a really nice tradition for us, too.”
