Gordon N. Bentz
OBITUARY
Gordon N. Bentz, 84, of Muhlenberg Township, died August 22, 2026 at Tower Health – Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Carole M. (Graff) Bentz, to whom he was married for 61 years.
Born September 3, 1941, in Reading, he was a son of the late George N. and Mae E. (Drayer) Bentz.
Gordon was a 1959 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
He was employed with Executive Services, where he did art engraving for a number of years; then Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Agere, Muhlenberg Township, for 24 years, retiring in 2002 as a manufacturing associate. After retirement, he worked part-time with Muhlenberg Parks and Recreation for 12 years.
Gordon proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He was a former member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.
Gordon enjoyed photography, painting, music, walking, cars, and the Blue Angels.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children: Billy G. Bentz of Shillington and Susan M. (Bentz), wife of Bill S. Weidenheimer of Mohrsville; his five grandchildren: Kora (Weidenheimer), wife of Jacob Goulet; Jenna Weidenheimer; Jordan Gerner; Jessica Bentz; and Amber Bentz; and five great grandchildren: Archer Goulet, Anthony Bentz, Aubrey Grubb, Aria Grubb, and Adalynn Grubb.
Also surviving are his siblings: David N. Bentz of Blandon and Rebecca K. “Beckie” Bentz of Muhlenberg Township.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 12th at 3 p.m. at Jim Dietrich Farmhouse, 4899 Stoudts Ferry Bridge Rd., Reading, PA 19605.
