The Pittsburgh Steelers have until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30 to cut their roster down from the 91 players the team carried all offseason to the 53-man limit.
With the preseason wrapping up on Thursday night in Buffalo, the Steelers will begin making cuts, and they’ve already started to trim their roster.
The Steelers released 11 players on Friday evening and two more Saturday plus made a trade, bringing their roster from 91 to 77 players. They still must release 24 more before the Sunday at 6 p.m. deadline.
Players that are placed on waivers around the league between now and the deadline will be processed at noon on Wednesday. At that point, teams can begin signing players to their practice squad, with a maximum of 16 players plus one international pathway program player.
