The Church of St. Gregory was the setting Aug. 1 for the wedding of Abigail Lauren Rothwell, Clarks Summit, and Jake Edward Brown, Scranton. The bride is the daughter of Alison and Christopher Rothwell, Clarks Summit. The bridegroom is the son of Michael Brown, Scranton, and the late Meg Brown.
The Rev. Patrick Rogers, S.J., officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony.
Rebecca Rothwell, Clarks Summit, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Allie Atkins, Philadelphia; Cecelia McGrath, San Francisco, Calif.; Kate McGrath, New York City; Alyssa Brown, Cherry Hill, N.J., sister-in-law of the bridegroom; Kara Collins, Havertown, cousin of the bridegroom; Anna Swift, Seattle, Wash., cousin of the bridegroom; McKenna Brazil, Dunmore, cousin of the bride; Kylie Brazil, Philadelphia, cousin of the bride; and Emily Brazil, Philadelphia, cousin of the bride.
Quinn Collins, Havertown, cousin of the bridegroom; Layla Holmes, Waverly Twp., cousin of the bride; and Meryn Brown, Cherry Hill, N.J., niece of the bridegroom, were flower girls.
Michael Brown Jr., Scranton, and Ryan Brown, Cherry Hill, N.J., brothers of the bridegroom, were best men. Ushers were William Brown, Waverly Twp., cousin of the bridegroom; Liam Roe, Scranton, cousin of the bridegroom; Cullen Roe, Scranton, cousin of the bridegroom; Daniel Swift, San Francisco, Calif., cousin of the bridegroom; Patrick Cosgrove, Philadelphia; Matthew Rothwell, Clarks Summit, brother of the bride; Logan Bailey, New York City; Patrick Casey Jr., New York City; and Benjamin Rothwell, Clarks Summit, brother of the bride.
A reception was held in Lake Ariel.
The bride is a graduate of Our Lady of Peace School and Scranton Preparatory School, and majored in design at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She is a writer and creative director for the Mom Edit, Philadelphia.
The bridegroom is a graduate of St. Paul’s School and Scranton Preparatory School, and majored in biology and history at the University of Scranton. He is currently in his fourth year of pharmacy school at Jefferson College of Pharmacy, Philadelphia.
The couple met in high school at Scranton Prep (high school sweethearts).
The couple resides in Philadelphia.
