A 60-day warning period for new speed cameras along Route 13 in West Philadelphia will begin Monday with ticketing set to begin in October.

On Monday, officials said, a 60-day warning period will begin for speed cameras at 11 intersections along Route 13 through West Philly.

During this 60-day period, officials said, drivers who violate the speed cameras will receive warnings in the mail.

However, officials said, come Oct. 30, 2026, drivers traveling 11 m.p.h. over the posted speed limit will be ticketed.

Drivers who are caught traveling 11 to 19 m.p.h. over the speed limit will be slapped with a $100 fine, while officials said, drivers who are caught driving 20 to 29 m.p.h. over posted limits will be hit with $125 fines.

For anyone caught traveling 30 miles an hour, or more, over the posted speed limits, the fines will be $150, officials said.

“Speed cameras have dramatically reduced speeding along Roosevelt Boulevard by a staggering 95%,” said Gabe Roberts, Acting Executive Director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority in a statement on the new speed cameras. “Our goal is to continue saving lives and improving public safety on major traffic arteries in the city.”

Automated speed enforcement cameras will be stationed at the following locations:

6000 block of Baltimore Avenue – for drivers headed eastbound and westbound

5600 block of Baltimore Avenue – for drivers headed eastbound and westbound

4900 block of Baltimore Avenue – for drivers headed eastbound and westbound

4300 block of Baltimore Avenue – for drivers headed eastbound

4200 block of Baltimore Avenue – for drivers headed westbound

300 block of South University Avenue – for drivers headed northbound and southbound

200 block of North 38th Street – for drivers headed northbound and southbound

400 block of North 34th Street – for drivers headed southbound

3300 block of Girard Avenue – for drivers headed eastbound and westbound

2000 block of North 33rd Street for drivers headed northbound and southbound

3400 block of Ridge Avenue – for drivers headed northbound and southbound

According to city data from 2019 through 2023, there were 123 fatal and serious injury crashes, 160 speeding-related crashes and 258 pedestrian crashes along Route 13.

The city hopes the cameras will help reduce those numbers.
