Bryan Kohberger’s attempt to overturn his murder conviction is taking a new turn.
Kohberger is currently behind bars for killing four University of Idaho students in 2022.
His new attorneys filed a motion to disqualify the judge overseeing his post-conviction case.
In the motion, Kohberger’s attorneys say Judge Steven Hippler’s past comments could call his impartiality into question.
During a hearing last year, Hippler called Kohberger the “worst of the worst.”
The recent request comes after the judge set a pair of hearings for June 2027.
Hippler will consider Kohberger’s bid to withdraw his guilty plea, which he accepted to avoid the death penalty.
