New video captures deadly collision between plane, Pennsylvania State Police helicopter
CARLISLE, Pa. —
WGAL has obtained new videos showing a collision between a small plane and a Pennsylvania State Police helicopter at Carlisle Airport the evening of Aug. 19.
The collision killed the pilot of the Cessna 150, Paul Sokoloski, 57, of Hershey, and injured two state police aviation team members, Cpl. Bryce Corman and Trp. Jason Mills.
Both troopers were taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center and have since been released.
Different views of crash
The video above was taken along the apron looking toward the runway. It shows the moment of impact and what led up to it. The video started at 6:51 p.m.
The helicopter enters from the left and heads down the runway, gradually lowering. As it slows down, the plane enters from the left. The plane bobs up and down, then veers to the right before colliding with the helicopter (around the 55-second mark).
