Its hard to call any result a big upset in the first week of a new high school football season.

However, there were some results that led to some shuffling in the Trib HSSN state rankings this week.

Most of the changes occurred in Class 3A, where three teams got bounced from the Top 5 after falling on opening night.

Avonworth, Hickory and Wyomissing exited while Hopewell, Archbishop Wood and Notre Dame-Green Pond claimed a spot in the PIAA rankings after winning in Week 1.

There were changes at the top in half of the classifications as Central Catholic leap frogged LaSalle College for No. 1 in Class 6A, Bishop Guilfoyle Academy did the same thing to Clairton in Class A, and Northwestern Lehigh is the new team at the top in 3A, replacing defending state champion Avonworth.

The other three classes remain the same at the top with Pine-Richland in 5A, Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast in 4A and Southern Columbia in 2A still at No. 1.

There are two head-to-head clashes in Week 2, both in the smallest classifications.

In District 6, 2A No. 4 Richland hosts Class A No. 1 Bishop Guilfoyle Academy and District 8 (City League) hosts District 3 in a battle of No. 5 ranked teams as 2A Westinghouse is home to Class A Steelton-Highspire.

Here are the latest Trib HSSN rankings in each of the six classifications. Teams are listed with overall record, last week’s ranking and district.

Class 6A

1. Central Catholic (1-0) (2) (D-7): The Vikings defeated Bergen Catholic (NJ) in Week 1, 45-30. They visit Woodland Hills on Friday on Trib HSSN.

2. LaSalle College (0-1) (1) (D-12): The defending PIAA 6A champion Explorers lost to Paramus Catholic (NJ) in Week 1, 35-14. They play Malvern Prep in Ocean City on Friday.

3. St. Joseph Prep (0-0) (3) (D-12): The Hawks did not play in Week 1. They visit Brentwood Academy (TN) on Friday.

4. Harrisburg (1-0) (4) (D-3): The Cougars defeated William Penn in Week 1, 40-19. They host Cedar Cliff on Saturday.

5. Bishop McDevitt (1-0) (5) (D-3): The Crusaders defeated Our Lady of Good Counsel (MD) in Week 1, 35-21. They visit Central Dauphin East on Friday.

Class 5A

1. Pine-Richland (1-0) (1) (D-7): The Rams defeated Avon (OH) in Week 1, 48-18. They host West Allegheny on Friday.

2. Imhotep Charter (1-0) (2) (D-12): The Panthers defeated Camden Hill (NJ) in Week 1, 29-8. They host DeMatha Catholic (MD) on Saturday.

3. Springfield-Delco (1-0) (3) (D-1): The Cougars defeated Perkiomen Valley in Week 1, 27-7. They host Marple-Newtown on Thursday.

4. Southern Lehigh (1-0) (4) (D-11): The defending PIAA 4A champion Spartans defeated Quakertown Community in Week 1, 55-0. They host Blue Mountain on Friday.

5. Twin Valley (1-0) (5) (D-3): The Raiders defeated Middletown in Week 1, 42-0. They visit Susquehanna Township on Friday.

1. Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast (0-1) (1) (D-12): The Friars lost to St. Augustine Prep (NJ) in Week 1, 24-20. They visit Archbishop Ryan on Saturday.

2. McKeesport (1-0) (2) (D-7): The Tigers defeated Brashear in Week 1, 61-0. They visit Montour on Friday.

3. General McLane (1-0) (3) (D-10): The Lancers defeated Central Clarion in Week 1 in overtime, 21-15. They host Fort LeBoeuf on Friday.

4. Shamokin (1-0) (4) (D-4): The Indians defeated Pottsville in Week 1, 41-7. They visit Danville on Friday.

5. West York (1-0) (NR) (D-3): The Bulldogs defeated No. 5 Susquehanna Township in Week 1, 19-9. They visit Red Lion on Friday.
