Edward John Hovan, Sr.
OBITUARY
Edward John Hovan Sr., age 86, born in 1940 in Scranton PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on July 28th, 2026 at his home in Manchester, CT.
Edward attended Rutgers University on scholarship and worked as a Mechanical Engineer for over 35 years at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford CT, ascending to Chief Engineer and Vice President of the Commercial Aircraft Division. After retirement from Pratt & Whitney, he founded Belcan Technical Services and built it into one of the largest suppliers of contract and outsource labor to Pratt & Whitney. He also spent time working at ABB in Lucerne, Switzerland. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing trips with colleagues and spending time with his family at his lake home in Sturbridge MA. He was very fond of spending Thursday night happy hours with work friends he made throughout the years.
Ed is survived by his children Edward Jr., Lisa and Kurt; grandchildren Bradley, Lexi, Garrett, Jenna, Kurt Jr. and Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Morgan of Cicero, NY, and by his brother, Elmer Hovan of Scranton, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helena Drazkiewicz Hovan.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, September 13th, at 4:00pm at the Hungry Tiger in Manchester, CT.
