Alex Roché, director of advocacy for the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, has been appointed to the Reading Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
His term begins in September and runs through 2031, the chamber announced.
Roché leads the chamber’s legislative agenda and advocacy initiatives and works to keep members and community stakeholders informed about regulatory changes and other community issues.
He also has a previous connection to the housing authority, which he said played an important role early in his career.
“The housing authority played an important role in the beginning of my career, giving me an early appreciation for the importance of quality, affordable housing and its impact on individuals, families and our entire community,” Roché said.
Roché said he looks forward to working with the authority board members, staff, residents and community partners.
Aaron Gantz, the chamber’s vice president of economic development and strategy, said Roché will bring another perspective to discussions about housing in Reading.
“Access to quality, attainable housing is critical to a strong workforce, thriving communities and long-term economic growth,” Gantz said.
