A Wayne County man attacked his girlfriend during an argument over housecleaning, police said.
Michael Eugene Hickey faces charges of assault, harassment, resisting arrest and endangering children after allegedly shoving his girlfriend to the ground as she held a two-year-old Sunday.
Officers responded to a home on Hummingbird Drive, Covington Township at about 5 p.m., on a report of a a domestic assault.
According to the complaint, dispatchers received several calls on the incident during which a female screamed and then hung up the phone.
Covington Township police officers noted Hickey was initially belligerent and resisted officers, but was eventually handcuffed at Taser-point.
As officers were leading Hickey to the patrol car, he again resisted.
Officers used physical force and were able to get Hickey into the police car, according to the complaint.
The victim, not identified in the criminal complaint, told officers it wasn’t the first time the two argued over cleaning. She said Hickey pushed her to the ground twice, once when she was holding a two-year old child.
Officers interviewed two neighbors who said they saw Hickey shove the victim down on a deck twice.
Hickey remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 11 before District Judge Christopher Szewczyk.
