WYOMISSING, Pa. – A longstanding destination for jeans, skirts, sweaters and other fashions is ending operations in Berks County.
An Express store is set to permanently close on Sept. 20 at the Berkshire Mall, 1665 State Hill Road, Wyomissing, according to a posted notice.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the notice reads. “We invite you to visit our nearest retail stores located at Park City Center in Lancaster and at the King of Prussia Mall. Thank you for your continued support.”
Express is a multichannel apparel brand “dedicated to a design philosophy rooted in modern, confident and effortless style whether dressing for work, everyday or special occasions,” according to a company description.
Customers can shop a wide array of men’s and women’s clothing, including dresses, skirts, shorts, pants, blouses, suits, cardigans and coats among other selections, along with accessories such as belts, ties, scarves and jewelry.
“Since its launch in 1980, the brand has embraced a design philosophy rooted in modern, confident and effortless style. Express ensures you look and feel your best, wherever life takes you,” the description continues.
The company operates more than 400 retail and outlet stores in the United States and Puerto Rico, the express.com online store, and the Express mobile app.
An Express store operates at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township.
In addition to the Lancaster and King of Prussia stores, other regional Express stores operate at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, and Willow Grove Park Mall in Abington Township, Montgomery County.
Additionally, Express Factory Outlet stores operate at the Franklin Mall in Philadelphia; Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick Township, Montgomery County; Tanger Outlets in East Lampeter Township, Lancaster County; and Pocono Premium Outlets in Pocono Township, Monroe County.
The Wyomissing store, operating 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays, is permanently closing amid a proposed redevelopment project at the Berkshire Mall.
Abrams Realty and Development is looking to buy the property and demolish most of the mall, but not the Boscov’s store.
