EXETER TWP., Pa. – During the heavy storms in Berks County on Tuesday night, lightning struck a tree outside of a home in Exeter Township.
The Exeter Fire Department says just before 7 p.m., fire crews and automatic aid partners were called to a possible structure fire/lightning strike on Wegman Road.
Units arrived on scene to find a slight haze in the basement with damage to the residence from the lightning strike, authorities say.
According to fire officials, lightning struck a tree, and the energy from the strike broke apart a portion of the driveway, yard, porch, and some items in the basement.
Authorities say no injuries were reported.
Exeter crews say they cleared the scene in under 30 minutes.
