Lower Saucon Township Council member resigns, after years of service | Bethlehem Area

L. SAUCON TWP., Pa. – A member of Lower Saucon Township Council in Northampton County is stepping down.

Priscilla deLeon, in a Facebook post, said she is resigning effective Sept. 15.

She had announced the news at Wednesday night’s board meeting. She did not give a reason for the resignation.

At the meeting, the township solicitor said council would have to wait until the next meeting to formally accept her resignation, along with discussion about how to fill the vacancy. 

“It has been an honor to serve the residents of Lower Saucon Township for the past 38 years,” deLeon said in the resignation letter, which was included in her Facebook post.

She said that since 1988, she has exercised sustained oversight of landfill regulatory matters, including review of host‑community agreements, amendments, DEP submissions, operational changes, and compliance obligations.

She said she’s advanced environmental protections through support of groundwater monitoring requirements, long‑term environmental impact evaluations, and measures designed to safeguard public health.
