Severe storms cause damage all across the city of Erie overnight, leaving thousands without power.
According to Penelec’s alert system and outage map, at one point early Thursday morning, more than 32,000 customers were without power.
As of 12:01 p.m. on Thursday, there are still over 14,914 Erie County customers without power.
Northern Bayfront neighborhoods from Frontier Park to the Bayfront Parkway were hit hard, stretching as far south as West 38th Street.
There have been multiple confirmed reports of trees down on power lines, roads, cars and houses.
Several schools closed due to the damage and no power, including the Erie City School District.
First responders have been active all night since the storm first blew through.
The City of Erie urges you to stay home and off the roads as crews work to clear roadways, restore power and assess the damage. Officials warn to exercise caution if you do intend to leave your home.
