NANTICOKE — John Yudichak, president of Luzerne County Community College, this week said it is the student-centered mission of LCCC to make earning a degree more accessible and more affordable, and the dual admission partnership with Keystone College advances that mission by fully recognizing every credit a student earns at LCCC.
LCCC and Keystone College have established a new dual admission partnership designed to give LCCC students a clear and affordable pathway to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree at Keystone College.
The agreement, announced earlier this week at LCCC’s Main Campus in Nanticoke, provides students with an additional option to plan their education beyond the associate degree level and continue toward a bachelor’s degree at Keystone.
For students, the partnership means they can begin their college education at LCCC and then continue their academic journey at Keystone, either through on-campus programs or through Keystone’s growing selection of online bachelor’s degree programs.
“Keystone College is honored to partner with LCCC in providing students with an affordable pathway to a private college experience,” said John F. Pullo Sr., president of Keystone College. “This agreement recognizes the value and quality of the education provided at LCCC by allowing students to build on their LCCC experience and seamlessly continue their education at Keystone either in-person or via the growing number of online programs which we offer.”
A pathway designed around students
Yudichak said the partnership gives LCCC students another opportunity to think about their education as a connected pathway — from community college to a bachelor’s degree — rather than having to navigate the transfer process on their own.
Students can take advantage of LCCC’s affordable community college education while planning for continued study at Keystone. The partnership also provides students with greater flexibility in how and where they complete their bachelor’s degree.
Keystone has expanded its online bachelor’s degree offerings to include criminal justice, early childhood education, esports and gaming management, financial planning, and sports and recreation management. These programs join Keystone’s fully online bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration.
The expanded online options can provide additional opportunities for LCCC graduates who want to continue their education while balancing work, family and other responsibilities.
Building on an existing relationship
Yudichak said the dual admission agreement formalizes a relationship that is already benefiting students. Keystone College has previously enrolled a number of LCCC graduates who continued their education at Keystone.
The two colleges also plan to continue discussions about additional collaborative opportunities, including potential academic partnerships in areas such as education and hospitality/event planning.
The institutions will explore opportunities to develop additional pathways and collaborative programs that provide students with unique educational experiences and additional options for continuing their education.
For LCCC students, Yudichak said the partnership adds another destination LCCC’s growing network of transfer and educational opportunities, helping students “Go Here. Graduate Here. Work Here.” while also providing a pathway to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree.
