BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bethlehem Area School District says it has started an investigation into a reported incident involving a staff member and a student at Marvine Elementary School.
In a letter to parents, District Superintendent Renato M. Lajara said the matter was reported to the appropriate authorities, and the district initiated its own investigation in accordance with district policy and applicable law.
“The District takes any allegation involving the safety and well-being of a student extremely seriously,” Lajara said.
Lajara said the district will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and take any necessary action based on the investigation’s findings.
Because the matter involves a student and a personnel investigation, the district said it cannot provide additional details at this time.
“We are committed to protecting the privacy of the student while ensuring that the matter is thoroughly and appropriately addressed,” Lajara said.
“The safety, dignity, and well-being of every student remain our highest priorities,” Lajara said in the letter.
