OBITUARY
Gerald (Jerry) Patrick Burke, age 70, of Scranton, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 31, 1956, in Scranton, Jerry was the son of the late Robert and Lucille Burke; and the brother to Robert, Marilou, Judy, Ann, and the late Jack Burke. Jerry graduated from Bishop Klonowski High School, class of 1974. He was beloved by many in his role as a Men’s Department Manager at Boscov’s, working for the company for 33 years. Jerry will always be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Joan, and his loving children: Justin (Aliceson) Burke of Scranton, Jeffrey (Shea Little) Burke of the Philadelphia area, Jeremy Burke of Scranton, and Megan Burke of Philadelphia; as well as his eight grandchildren.
While Jerry loved gardening, listening to music, watching Penn State Football and Yankees games, and enjoying his favorite dishes from Cooper’s Seafood, what he loved most was being a parent and grandparent. He treasured time with his eight grandchildren: Ruby, Lyra, Rory, Lennox, Asher, Nick, Connor, and Ayden. He never failed to be a human jungle gym for them or teaching them his favorite pranks and jokes.
To honor Jerry’s final wishes, arrangements are private with no public service.
Jerry’s memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
