Several hundred students are starting the new school year a little bit better prepared. That’s thanks to the efforts of employees at Henry Schein Inc.’s distribution center in Denver, Lancaster County.

Team Schein Members at Henry Schein recently packed more than 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to help underserved children across Pennsylvania.

The backpacks were filled with folders, notebooks, pencils, rulers, and other classroom essentials, according to a press release. The backpacks were donated through Henry Schein’s “Back to School” program to children served by the Children’s Home of Reading (CHOR), a nonprofit organization that provides residential, educational, and community-based programs for children and families.

The donation continues a nearly 20-year partnership between Henry Schein and CHOR, which serves children and families from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, with offices in Berks and Bucks counties, and the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Since its inception, Henry Schein’s “Back to School” program has allowed company team members to make a difference through hands-on volunteerism, the company said in the release. The program has grown to a global scale, benefitting more than 80,000 children across the communities Henry Schein serves. This year, team members at 40 company locations participated in the “Back to School” program.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate citizenship program.
