clean up efforts continue across erie as the city is trying to repair itself from storm damage continuing across the city. tonight, we’re taking a look at east avenue and mccarter avenue.
a massive tree crashed on the road, blocking the entire thing along with ripping up the sidewalk.
crews are working to clear the debris.
neighbors here on east and mccarter avenue say they’re still in shock after watching this massive tree crash on the road during this week’s storms. the damage it caused left everyone speechless. it destroyed and ripped up a chunk of the sidewalk while also causing an entrance to the road to be shut down.
crews have been out here for hours, cutting through the tree and trying to move debris piece by piece.
neighbors share it sounded like an explosion went off.
“so i was just in my room in my house and then i just looked outside cause the whole whole bunch of water and gray and then i heard a big boom and then i looked outside. i saw it. i saw it hit the ground and the branches just came flying everywhere and i saw it hit the house,” qiydaar, a neighbor, shared.
crews share they are working as fast as they can, but they have no timeline on when this will be cleared. it could even take days to get this done. the fall also caused wires to be damaged, along with debris scattered everywhere. erie police report there have been no injuries so far.
residents say they’re trying to move on, but it has been difficult. they are just hoping this gets resolved soon.
