Blair O’Bryan and the Bethlehem volleyball team picked up a nice 19th District win Tuesday night, with the Banshees storming back from a 10-point deficit in the second set en route to sweeping Thomas Nelson at Crawford Hart Gymnasium.
O’Bryan came up with 19 kills in a dominant showing at the net as Bethlehem won 25-23, 30-28, 25-23 to improve to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the district.
Alexis Lanz added 10 kills, two assists, one block and one ace, while Brooklyn Yates chipped in with seven kills, three aces and three digs.
Alaina Medley contributed 22 assists, and Matti Deopere had 14 assists, four aces and three digs. Gabby Bellisario, Maddie Krill and Avery Jennings combined for 26 digs on the night.
Morgan Ballard paced the Generals with 10 kills, while Claya Downs and Sarah Riley each had seven kills.
Hadley Brooks dished out 30 assists and had three aces, and Kinley Unseld had 18 digs. Riley also came up with 15 digs, and Downs had eight for the Generals – who fell to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in the district.
Bethlehem plays at district rival Washington County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Thomas Nelson plays at 5th Region rival Central Hardin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Bardstown 3, Nelson County 0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-17)
Addison Devers had 13 kills and SaNya Barber added 11 as the host Tigers swept the Cardinals Tuesday night.
Devers and Barber each also had seven digs apiece, while Molly Kisegy chipped in with 17 digs and one assist. Destiny Ingram handed out a match-high 33 assists.
Marli Filiatreau paced Nelson County with 10 kills, while Madison Brown added seven kills and two aces. Sydney Fields chipped in with 15 assists.
Bardstown improved to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the district. Nelson County fell to 0-8 overall and 0-3 in the district.
The Tigers host district rival Bethlehem at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The Cardinals host district foe Thomas Nelson at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Bardstown 3, Washington County 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-13, 25-19)
Devers had 18 kills, 14 digs and four aces to carry the Tigers past the Commanders Thursday night at home.
Rachel Smith added 12 kills and seven digs, while Kisegy chipped in with 26 digs, three aces and one assist.
Barber finished with eight kills, and Ingram had six kills, 10 digs and one ace.
Elizabethtown 3, Thomas Nelson 0 (25-16, 25-10, 26-24)
The visiting Generals (5-6) lost their third straight match with Thursday’s loss to the Panthers (6-1). No statistics were available.
