The Erie Zoo made a trip to the zoo free for everyone for part of the day Saturday.
The annual Zoo for All event returned Saturday morning, with free admission from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., encouraging visitors to get outside and get active as part of Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield’s “Healthy Zoo, Healthy You” initiative.
Audubon Community Nature Center invites families to ‘Enchanted Forest’
The event featured local community organizations and a goldfish and Koi surrender intake for the zoo’s Last Chance Lagoon.
Visitors also shopped the zoo’s conservation book sale, with proceeds supporting conservation efforts.
“This event is really important for us because it helps highlight how accessible the zoo is, and is helping make the zoo accessible for people who might not be able to afford to come to the zoo normally,” said Hali Hartley, lead manager of PR, marketing and events for the Erie Zoo.
Coming up in a couple weeks, the zoo will hold a celebration for its members with a special appreciation night.
