Funeral services were held today at Meadville’s New Beginnings Church of God for 52–year-old Pennsylvania State Police active Trooper Gary Knott before hundreds of fellow troopers, family members and friends.

The services followed a large motorcade from Knott’s hometown of Conneaut Lake into Meadville.

Knott passed away in Maryland on August 24th.

He served on a special interstate highway drug interdiction unit, which annually seizes illegal drugs at traffic stops and on other law enforcement safe highways initiatives.

As part of the PSP unit known as SHIELD, Knott principally worked on Interstates 79 and 80 from the PSP Mercer station.

He is survived by his wife Carrie of 32 years and daughters Mariah Mayes and Kalli Knott. Troopers from multiple stations in western Pennsylvania along with municipal law enforcement agencies attended services.
