LOWER ALSACE TWP., Pa. — For Becca Devlin, summers have always included Antietam Pool.
“The community. You see people that you haven’t seen in years here, and it’s just, I’ve been coming here since I was born, basically,” Devlin said.
Now, she’s bringing her own child to Antietam Pool.
“It’s just kind of nice to now be able to expand it to my generation, my children, and bring him back here,” Devlin said.
A few miles away, summer got a last-minute extension. Blue Marsh’s swim beach closed Friday because of elevated E. coli levels. New testing came back safe, allowing it to reopen Saturday.
“With it not being far, it’s nice. The lake’s not too crowded in the water and it’s not too deep. So I can let my children just kind of venture a little bit,” said Ashley Kimball.
Ashley came with her husband and three children, taking advantage of the sunny holiday.
“I was very surprised, but it turned out to be awesome to kind of end the summer,” Kimball said.
