BERN TWP., Pa. – Some people spent part of their Labor Day enjoying an outdoor concert.
The Berks County Heritage Center hosted the historic Ringgold Band for a special performance.
Organizers say Wertz’s Covered Bridge and the Tulpehocken Creek made for the perfect backdrop.
The band was formed in 1852 and is one of America’s first community bands.
Monday’s show featured some patriotic tunes.
“Well, my favorite is Stars and Stripes Forever, so I love the piccolo part at the end, and they do an awesome job on it,” said Maria Speicher of Leesport.
The Ringgold Band’s next performance will be held on Sept. 19 at the Oley Valley Community Fair.
