Residents in need of medical, dental, or vision care will have access to free healthcare services this weekend as Free Healthcare Clinic pop-up visits Erie, Pennsylvania to Address Limited Access to Care. The event is being organized by Remote Area Medical (RAM®) and hosted by the Hamot Health Foundation.
The clinic will take place September 12 until September 13 at the Erie Center for Arts and Technology, located at 650 East Avenue, Suite 120 in Erie. Organizers say the event is intended to help uninsured, underinsured, and underserved residents overcome barriers that often prevent access to essential healthcare services.
Patients will be able to receive a wide range of services at no cost, including dental care, vision care, and general medical examinations. Available dental services include cleanings, fillings, extractions, and X-rays.
Vision services include eye exams, eye health assessments, eyeglass prescriptions, and eyeglasses made on-site. Women’s health services and general medical exams will also be available.
One of the clinic’s most important features is its accessibility. Organizers emphasize that no insurance, identification, or proof of income is required, and anyone in need of care is welcome to attend.
The clinic will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The parking lot will open no later than 11:59 p.m. on September 11, allowing patients to begin lining up ahead of the clinic’s opening. Doors will open at 6 a.m. each day, with services continuing until daily capacity is reached. Organizers note that Sunday will be an abbreviated clinic day and encourage patients to arrive as early as possible.
Due to time limitations, patients may need to choose between dental and vision services during their visit, although all patients will have access to general medical care. RAM officials also caution that weather conditions, volunteer availability, or other unforeseen circumstances could affect clinic operations and patient capacity.
