Shelter-in-place order issued for Northampton County neighborhood

Residents of a Northampton County neighborhood are asked to shelter in place while authorities respond to a barricaded gunman Tuesday afternoon.

Trooper Nathan Branosky, a state police spokesman, said about 1:20 p.m. that troopers responded to the 200 block of Molly Pitcher Road in Upper Mount Bethel Township for a report of a barricaded gunman. Troopers are on scene and trying to diffuse the situation, he said.

Anyone who lives in the area should shelter in place, and the neighborhood should be avoided, Branosky said.
