Following the major storms that tore through the Erie area on Sept. 2 into Sept. 3, the city of Erie has reopened a majority of the impacted roads.
The storms left downtown neighborhoods and streets dealing with tree damage, downed electrical wires, debris and power outages. A good amount of storm damage impacted the West Eighth Street and Frontier area of Erie, along with the Erie Cemetery and other areas.
City of Erie officials announced on Sept. 8 that “thanks to the hard work of city crews and volunteers, all major roads are open.”

These roads include areas around West Eighth Street which sustained major storm damage.
City officials noted that there are a couple of neighborhood streets, including West Fourth Street and Monoca Drive, that are still closed and being worked on. The city expects these roads to be opened later on Sept. 8.

Continue to use caution while driving in the city
City officials are asking drivers to continue to use caution while driving on city roads including side streets.

“While these streets are open, some of them remain one lane due to trees on either side,” said Mary Wassell, media and public relations coordinator for the city of Erie.
