Vehicle became engulfed in engine compartment near Bergey’s Electric showroom Tuesday afternoon
A BMW caught fire in the middle of Bethlehem Pike in Hatfield Tuesday afternoon, blocking southbound traffic and causing backups along the busy roadway.
Emergency crews were dispatched at about 12:55 p.m. Tuesday to the 2800 block of Bethlehem Pike, near Church Road and the Bergey’s Electric showroom, for a reported vehicle fire.
The single vehicle, a BMW, was stopped in the center turning lane facing northbound when a fire broke out in the engine compartment.

Hatfield Fire Co. and Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Co. responded to the scene.
Southbound traffic on Bethlehem Pike was blocked as firefighters worked at the scene, with traffic backing up in the area.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays while emergency crews remain on scene and the vehicle is removed.
