La Festa Italiana draws more than 100,000 visitors per year.
SCRANTON, Pa. — La Festa Italiana in downtown Scranton is celebrating a major milestone, 50 years of celebrating Italian heritage.
Founded in 1976, the festival has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated events of the year. The celebration began with the annual Italian Mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral on Sunday morning.
With more than 100,000 visitors per year, La Festa is still going strong half a century later.
“Oh! It’s just coming together and praying, and of course, the music is wonderful, it kind of just goes right to your heart,” said La Festa president & chairman Chris DiMattio.
La Festa runs tonight until 10 p.m.
