DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission is hosting several upcoming wildlife habitat driving tours on state game lands, one of which is in Dauphin County.

On Sunday, Oct. 18, the Stone Valley Tour begins at Ellendale Forge gate, located 6 miles east of Dauphin Borough and ends at the Gold Mine gate. The tour goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“These driving tours provide an overview of what’s available on our state game lands, while showcasing how the agency’s habitat work benefits various species of wildlife,” said Game Commission Executive Director Steve Smith.

The Stone Valley Tour covers over 44,000 acres of state game lands and spans three counties, including Dauphin, Lebanon and Schuylkill. The Appalachian Trails and Horse-Shoe Trails are seen on the tour, as well.

Smith said, “For hunters, these tours highlight potential opportunities for the upcoming seasons, and for non-hunters, the beautiful Pennsylvania fall landscapes are second to none.”

Game Commission personnel will be located throughout the tour to provide information on the sites and answer questions.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission’s driving tours are free and are only open to vehicles licensed for travel on public roads.
