Pennsylvania lawmaker seeks to rename Lake Erie to Lake Pennsylvania
ERIE COUNTY, Pa. —
State Rep. David Maloney, a Republican, is advocating for Lake Erie to be renamed Lake Pennsylvania.
Maloney said he is drafting a resolution to call on President Donald Trump and the Department of the Interior to implement the name change.
This initiative comes after President Trump signed an executive order renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America.
Maloney said Pennsylvania punches above its weight in maintaining Lake Erie, noting that other states border multiple Great Lakes while Pennsylvania borders only one.
