Pennsylvania police issue guidance on skill game machine compliance

Pennsylvania State Police are providing guidance to businesses operating skill game machines to help them comply with licensing requirements before the October 14 deadline.

The guidance follows a state Supreme Court ruling that skill game devices are considered “slot machines” and require a license issued by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. Businesses that fail to comply could face criminal prosecution starting next month.
Police strongly recommend that businesses discuss the removal of these machines with distributors or vendors who may own them.
“If a distributor or vendor is unwilling to remove machines, the business is encouraged to reach out to police,” officials said.
