Shane and Hannah Burcaw, who have built a large social media following as disability advocates, announced Tuesday that they are expecting a baby.
The couple are known as “Squirmy and Grubs” on social media, where they share Shane’s muscular atrophy experiences.
They announced on Facebook and other platforms that Hannah Burcaw is 20 weeks pregnant, and they are expecting their first child in January.
Shane Burcaw, a Lehigh Valley native, said he will be starting a blog to share their journey as parents.
“Life is moving at a million miles an hour and we’re having a baby,” Shane said in a video announcing the pregnancy. “Life is good. We are so in love.”
Shane Burcaw, formerly of Bethlehem, has spinal muscular atrophy, uses a wheelchair for mobility and requires help with most activities, the couple wrote on their blog. The couple now lives near Minneapolis, and they document their relationship on their social media pages to change the misunderstanding around disability, their blog states.
They have nearly 2 million followers on YouTube, and nearly 1 million on Facebook.
